Although relatively new to the public, Food Fraud has been a long-time concern for food manufacturers and suppliers. A criminal act, Food Fraud is defined as the deliberate and intentional substitution, addition, tampering, or misrepresentation of food, food ingredients, or food packaging, for economic gain.

Many of the risks associated with Food Fraud are health-related. However, brands in the food industry also face reputation and financial risks associated with Food Fraud incidents.
